WESLEY CHAPEL, FL (WFLA) - The Brown family is ready for Christmas. They put up their lights and decorations. They have lived in their Wesley Chapel home for more than ten years and the appliances are showing their age.

"Our stove went down last year. Our refrigerator ice maker was broke," said Army veteran Vu Brown.

Brown is a Gulf War veteran. He heard about a program offered by Cross Country Home Services and TECO Peoples Gas for veterans in need of appliances.

Brown recently applied for the program and on Wednesday, representatives from the two companies presented the family with an early Christmas by replacing the broken appliances.

A new gas oven and stove was exactly what Brown says he needed.

"Do all the cooking in the house. Just enjoy cooking so to have another range.  Can't wait to get started," Brown said.

Cross Country Home Services is a home warranty and service company. Omar Lambiro is a client manager for the company and he says this is how they give back to the community.

"We pride ourselves on peace of mind. What better way of giving peace of mind to somebody that truly deserves it. Coming back from the scenarios that they have being in the war," Lambiro said.

Brown says he is grateful for the new appliances and says he thanks CCHS and TEOC Peoples Gas for all that they do for the veterans.

"I really, really appreciate it," Brown said.

TECO Peoples Gas donated a tankless water heater to replace Brown's old and broken water heater.

When asked what he was going to make for dinner on with his new stove, Brown replied, "maybe some chicken pasta."
