PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A 5-year-old boy is safe after he was barricaded in a home for more than three hours during a standoff in Pasco County Wednesday.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to a home at 38051 Causey Rd. in Trilby at 10:51 a.m.

A sheriff's office spokesperson says an adult female had just left the home prior to the SWAT team's arrival. The woman reported being choked by Floyd Dixon, 38, who had barricaded himself in the home with the child.

After the SWAT team arrived, Dixon would not let the boy leave the house, according to a PCSO spokesperson. However, around 2:37 p.m., the SWAT team safely secured the boy and arrested Dixon. No details have been released about how this occurred.

There were no serious injuries reported during the incident.

Dixon was charged with aggravated domestic battery and child abuse and was booked into the Land O' Lakes jail.
