Animals get Thanksgiving treats at Big Cat Rescue

Posted: Updated:
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Animals at the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary got a head start on Thanksgiving on Tuesday.

Staff members at the Tampa sanctuary gave out Butterball turkeys to Nikita, a lioness, Alex the tiger, and Reno the leopard.  The smaller, more exotic cats were given Cornish game hens.

A Big Cat Rescue official says the holiday-themed enrichment treats, such as turkeys and hens, provide the cats with mental stimulation as well as a yummy snack.
