Suspects wanted in 2 Lenoir County armed robberies

Posted: Updated:
KINSTON, N.C. - Lenoir County deputies need your help identifying two men behind a convenience store armed robbery.

The robbery happened around 7:30 Monday night at the North Lenoir Community Mart.

Witnesses say two black males entered the store armed with a handgun. They ordered the owner to give them money while they held the clerk at gunpoint, taking money, cigarettes and other items.

They fired a shot at one of the victims as they fled the scene in a car parked in a small field not far from the store.

Just 45 minutes before, there was an attempted robbery of another person at the intersection of Banks School Road and Falling Creek Road. That person fled the scene when two black males walked up to his car, one on each side, armed with handguns.

"We do believe these two robberies are related.  We are still attempting to identify and arrest the criminals,” said Sheriff Chris Hill. "There is a good chance person(s) witnessed the suspect vehicle occupied by two black males wearing dark clothing, slowly riding the area around Banks School Road and Falling Creek Road or near Institute.  If you think you may have seen these suspects or you know anything about these robberies, please contact us immediately.  We are entering the holiday season and these types of crimes will begin to pick up.  I want citizens to be aware of their surroundings and become more observant in their communities so we can stop this now.  I am offering a $1000 reward for credible information that leads to the arrest of these culprits."

If you know anything about the incidents, you’re asked to call the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office.
