TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

The largest cigar celebration in the world filled the streets of downtown Tampa Saturday.

The annual Tampa Cigar Festival took place at Cotanchobee/Fort Brooke Park on Old Water St. The event featured continuous entertainment on two stages, a children’s play/activity area and thousands of hand-made premium cigars.

The festival kicked off at 10 a.m. and lasted approximately six hours. The event was sold out!

“Tampa is the Cigar City,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn in the days leading up to the event. “There isn’t a more appropriate event for Tampa than to host the Tampa Cigar Festival. It’s a chance to celebrate our community’s cultural diversity and history – all while supporting a good cause.”

A portion of the proceeds collected by festival organizers will benefit Friends of Tampa Recreation Inc.

Saturday’s annual event brings attention to the history and significance the Cigar Industry has played in the growth of Tampa as a city.
