Families due to pick up Angel Tree requests

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The angels have landed at the Salvation Army Christmas Bureau in Greenville.

Wednesday and Thursday, families are scheduled to pick up the Angel Tree requests that have been filled.

The bicycles are all lined up while other gifts are bagged and numbered waiting.

Captain John Sikes says the people came through helping about 600 families with 1,600 hundred children.

"That is a little above last year, not a lot, but a little above. We have a cutoff point where we are limited to how many we can help. We would love to help everybody, but unfortunately we are not able to do that,” said Capt. John Sikes, Salvation Army.

Sikes says while the Angel Tree program is done, the Red Kettle program is going slow this year. The Greenville donations are about $21,000 behind last year.

The bell ringing continues until December 24th so there is still time help, either with bell ringing or making donations.
