Raleigh turns to crowdsourcing for artistic bike racks

Posted: Updated:

How would you like to see some fun, artistic bike racks throughout the City of Raleigh?

City leaders are turning to crowdsourcing to help fund that project and spruce up the city.

The city first needs to hear from you to determine where to place the bike racks.

Raleigh residents can go to the city's SeeClickFix website to cast their vote on bike rack locations.

So far, the majority of the locations being suggested are around downtown Raleigh. But city leaders would like to see more of a response from residents outside the Beltline.

The Moore Square Parking Deck on South Wilmington Street is in the lead with 29 votes. The Person Street business district is in second place with 26 votes.

Voting for bike rack locations will end on Nov. 29. Once the nine bike rack locations have been decided the city will then turn to crowdsourcing for people who would like to help pay for artistic bike racks rather than the city's standard issue.

To cast your vote, go to seeclickfix.com/raleigh, you can either vote for a new location or vote for one that has already been nominated.

The most popular locations will be announced Dec. 9. Then the crowdsourcing project will run from Dec. 9 through Dec. 31.
