TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

The trial of the man accused of killing two Tampa police officers is likely stirring emotions this week for Bay area law enforcement, a psychologist who works with law enforcement says.

"What's happening to police officers and law enforcement in general this week is, they can't get away from that trial," said psychologist Dr. Vincent Skotko. "It's on the front page, it's on the news, we're talking about it, they're talking about it."

Dontae Morris is on trial this week for the murders of Tampa Police officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis during a traffic stop.

Officers are among those testifying in the trial.

Reliving moments from the night the officers were killed is difficult, but so is just being near the man accused of shooting the two men, Skotko said.

"You're sitting in the same room with the individual who's accused of perpetrating these horrific acts," he said.

While it will be a difficult week, Skotko also said the experience can bring out feelings of comraderie among colleagues, and they are likely getting support from each other.

The Tampa Police Department this week changed its Facebook page to display the badges of the two murdered officer as its profile picture.

On Friday, TPD Chief Jane Castor sent an email to the department, addressing the difficult week ahead. Part of that message, posted on the Facebook page, acknowledges the trial would "bring back to the surface feelings and emotions of a very dark period in our lives."

The message also said the trial could bring some closure, "to know that someone will be held accountable for such a heinous and senseless act."
