HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - The Brandon Bears JV cheer squad will not be allowed to participate in post-season competition.  Tuesday night, the league board upheld their decision to bar the cheer squad over what some called an unapproved practice.

The board had canceled all post-season competition after a video surfaced, showing 7 members of the Brandon Bears JV cheer squad, doing a routine at a barbeque.

Cheerleader Aolani Teuchert says the decision is disappointing.

"It made me really upset, because I wanted to do it," Teuchert said.  "And it doesn't make no sense because we were like trying our hardest and then they just have to take it away from us."

The board president said this was a "practice outside of approved parameters", and barred the cheer squad and the team from post-season play.

There was some good news Tuesday evening for two Brandon Bears football teams, which were banished from post-season play by the league's board of directors.

After negotiation with the law firm Morgan and Morgan, the board reversed their call, and will allow the teams to play in the November 23rd TCYFCC Superbowl.

Brandon Bears Athletic Director, Brian Jones said the decision is the right thing to do.

"We're absolutely thrilled and excited that that boys get to play in the superbowl. Two teams than have worked harder than a lot of kids i've ever seen in my life," Jones said.
