LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) -

A feature story in The Lakeland Ledger newspaper about a mom who woke up one day tired of being tired, and frustrated with post pregnancy weight gain, sparked a wave of inspiration and hope for other women.

"I just woke up one day, and said to myself, 'This has got to end'," said Lakeland mom Emilie Plants.

Prescription medications with side effects that led to weight gain combined with post pregnancy pounds, left the one time beauty pageant queen who dawned bikinis and gorgeous gowns, relegated to sweat pants and what she describes as a "mom suits" for family beach outings.

It was pure inner strength and discipline that led to Emilie Plants six month body transformations.

"I did it old school," Plants described a work out regimen of weight lifting and short burst of cardio. "Women don't need to be worried about building muscles, that's what helps us look lean."

Plants lost nearly 60 pounds in six short months.

"I worked hard, it's about exercise, but what you eat is critical," said Plants.

When so many women started reaching out to Plants she started holding weekend fitness bootcamps which eventually lead to one-on-one training sessions for 20 other moms who are now making great strides in their weight loss goals.

"My business is "Transformations by Em," she said.

It's what Emilie describes as her true purpose in life.
