More than 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto a Pasco county highway Monday morning after a semi-truck hit a guard rail.

Noel Gonzalez, 44, of Tampa, was headed northbound on SR-589 at 9:39 a.m. when he missed the exit ramp to SR-54. Gonzalez then veered right to try and exit, but wound up hitting a guard rail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The collision severed one of the truck's gas tanks causing diesel fuel to spill onto the road.

The exit ramp to SR-54 was closed while crews worked to clean the fuel from the highway.

No one was injured in the crash which caused an estimated $20,000 damage to the truck.

Gonzalez was charged with improper exiting on a limited access roadway, according to FHP.
