ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

Classic cars were on display and military veterans honored Sunday during a special ceremony at South Straub Park in St. Petersburg.

The 11th Annual Vintage Motor Classic was hosted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and organized by The Warriors Roadtrip Network Foundation.

The parade of classic cars began just after 9 a.m. and the Veteran’s Salute Ceremony got underway at 3 p.m. The Admiral Farragut Academy Drill Team performed at the event and the National Anthem was sung by 10-year-old Caroline Rose Simpson, a student at the Pasadena Fundamental Elementary School in Pinellas County.

Several Bay area military organizations also took part in Sunday’s festivities as did the St. Petersburg Police Department’s SWAT team. Past and present military first responder vehicles were also on hand for all to see.

A handful of interactive military style games were provided by the United States Marine Corps, the United States Air Force and the United States Army.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
