A motorcyclist died Friday after Hillsborough deputies say he ran into a school bus and another car.
Around 4:30 p.m., investigators say a school bus carrying 5 students was making a left turn off Waters Avenue onto Twelve Oaks Boulevard. Witnesses say a motorcycle driven by Jose Mauricio Rodriguez sped up as the bus was turning, and hit the bus's left bumper. The motorcycle kept going and hit a Mercury Sable that was stopped at a light on Twelve Oaks Blvd.
Rodriguez was taken to the hospital, where he died. He was not wearing a helmet.
Hillsborough deputies say all five students on the bus were unhurt, and were released to their parents. The driver of the school bus was not injured, but was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The driver of the Mercury Sable was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.A traffic signal control box was damaged by flying debris.
