Pasco Co. man busted on child porn charges

Posted: Updated:
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFLA) -

Pasco County sheriff's detectives swooped in on 60-year-old Michael Daly’s New Port Richey home early Thursday morning following a month long investigation into child pornography.

They arrested Daly after discovering child porn on several computers in the home.

Detective Tony Bossone with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said, "Initially he was very shocked and he was brought out and interviewed and admitted to knowingly downloading child porn and viewing it."

Investigators say there were hundreds of child porn images, not only on the computers, but on several hard drives that were seized from the home.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said, "We cannot give you the name of the files, but there is no doubt about it, if he would have even read the name of the file that is a red flag they were clearly stating there was pornography of underage children."

Neighbors say they are stunned to hear the news about Daly.

Laurie Pallesen lives next door to Daly with her daughter and granddaughter.

Pallesen said, "Well with as many kids on this block and around the areas it is a concern because of what was being accused, you never know, you never know."

Sean Marcum lives across the street from the home where the child porn bust was carried out.

"I think it is good that they caught him I heard he had a lot of it too in his house and it’s just terrible, it’s just bad," said Marcum.

Investigators say they don't believe Daly manufactured child porn.

Detective Bossone added, "Most of these video are traded by these people over the Internet and they are repeated, we don't know when they were filmed but nothing looks as though it was something he had taken part in himself."

For now, Daly is in jail on the second degree felony charges.
