SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

The news of a classmate being diagnosed with cancer has brought together a special bond for Sullivan Central students, who are showing their support in a unique way.

Dozens of Cougars shaved their heads to let classmate Nicholas Shortridge know they are behind him in his fight.

The students paid $5 dollars each to have the cosmetology do the honors, with proceeds going to Nicholas' family.

Donations have already surpassed a $1000.

The giving doesn't stop with the monetary donations, much of the hair cut off will go to Wigs for Kids and Locks of Love.
