In an effort to clean meth pushers out of your neighborhoods, officers arrested dozens of people in a meth crackdown on Monday and Tuesday.
The roundup was a joint effort between the State Law Enforcement Division, Greenville County Sheriff's Office, Pickens County Sheriff's Office, and about a dozen of the cities in between.
Officers arrested 14 people in Greenville County and 13 in Pickens County.
Seven children were taken into emergency protective custody. Officers also recovered three illegal gambling machines and a stolen vehicle.
An undercover officer with Greenville County's Narcotics Unit said the most frustrating part of his job is putting in the work to arrest meth dealers only to see them get out of jail so quickly.
Of the 27 people arrested Monday and Tuesday, four are already back on the streets Wednesday.According to statistics from SLED, officers found 20-times as many meth labs in South Carolina last year as they did in 2007. Back then, only 26 meth labs were reported in the state. In 2012, 539 labs were found. South Carolina is on track to outpace last year's numbers in 2013.
