SUV rams into NAPA store in Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

News Channel 11 now knows the name of the driver whose SUV rammed into the NAPA Auto Parts store on Broad Street Wednesday morning in Elizabethton.  

Police say  57-year-old Dennis Beamer was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation, but preliminary results indicate there were no evidence drugs or alcohol being a factor in the accident. 


UPDATE 11/6/13:

A car rammed into an auto parts store Wednesday morning in Elizabethton. The accident happened during rush hour on Broad Street.

Police said a Johnson City man was at McDonald's, drove across Broad Street hitting two poles at a tire store, crossed into the Elizabethton Church of God parking lot then once again crossed four lanes of Broad Street ending up in the lobby of NAPA Auto Parts.

NAPA Auto Parts employees said they saw the car coming, but it happened very fast. No one in the store was hurt.

Police said they believe the driver had some type of medical condition. His name is not being released at this time and his condition is unknown.

NAPA Auto Parts employees said they will continue business as usual.
