Cool weather finally here to stay

Posted: Updated:

Seasonably cool temperatures have settled into Georgia and Alabama for the start of the new week.

A huge high pressure dome centered over the northeastern U.S. stretches down the eastern seaboard, with the circulation around the high providing this area with rather brisk easterly winds that will continue through Tuesday.  Winds will be in the 10 to 20 mile-per-hour range with higher gusts both days.

On Wednesday, clouds will begin to move in as a cold front heads our way from the Plains.  Showers will accompany the front on Thursday as it passes through, our one opportunity to pick up some rain this entire week.

Another round of cool, dry air should take over for the remainder of this week and next weekend.
