Body discovered in search for missing boater

EDENTON, N.C. - The Coast Guard and deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office says they've recovered a body in the search for a man who fell overboard in the Albemarle Sound.

Chief Deputy Elizabeth C. Floyd with the Washington County Sheriff's Office tells 9 On Your Side 42-year-old Jimmy Dwight McKinney of Edenton was pulled from the water around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Deputies say it was a joint effort between Hertford County's side scan sonar team and several dive teams as well as the Coast Guard and several other agencies.

The body was found in the water on the Washington County side of Highway 32.

The Coast Guard will resume its search Monday morning for a man who fell overboard in the Albemarle Sound.

The Coast Guard says it received a call around 11:30 Sunday morning from someone claiming to have seen a man fall from a boat.
    
Helicopter crews from Elizabeth City as well as several other local departments are helping with the search.
    
The person is believed to have fallen from a 39-foot boat.
