Police arrest suspect in Durham shooting death

DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him in connection with an Oct. 20 murder.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested Montreal Malik Russell Thursday afternoon  at the Wake Inn in Raleigh and charged him in the death of 23-year-old Demario Lucas.

Durham police said officers found Lucas dead on a breezeway at 1400 East Cornwallis Road, Building 300 just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 20. Police said Lucas had been shot along with another male victim.

The second victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
