Church volunteer arrested for alleged sexual battery of child

SEFFNER, FL - Deputies arrested a Hillsborough County man who they said sexually molested a 10-year-old girl during Sunday school services, according to HCSO.

Detectives started the investigation of the reported incidents of molestation on Oct. 22. They discovered that from 2010 to 2013 William A. Richardson II, 47, sexually molested the girl at least once when she was between 9 and 10 years old.

He also sexually battered her at least once when she was 11, deputies said. Richardson volunteered at the First Baptist Church of Mango in the music department and Sunday school. According to HCSO, the molestation incidents took place during the Sunday school service.

HCSO detectives said they don't know of any additional victims at this time. "These are usually not isolated incidents, potentially other victims that could exist out there,"  Said Detective Larry McKinnon.  "And we're hoping that's not the case but if it is, we're encouraging them to come forward now, and give us that information so that we can seek justice for them as well."  If you know of anyone who has been hurt by this man you can call the Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.

Nita Allred is the Church's Sunday school director, and was in tears when she learned Richardson was arrested.  She said there were no red flags, and in her words, the children adored him.  "The history of this church, means so much to me and for something like this to happen, it's just so devastating and I'm so sorry this happened."  Said Allred.  "And you trusted your children with me and I'm so sorry."

Officials arrested Richardson at his home in Brandon earlier this week and booked him into the Hillsborough County Jail. A judge said no bond will be issued for Richardson.  According to the arrest affidavit, Detectives set up a controlled call with the victim, in which Richardson made statements that incriminated himself.
