Arrest warrant obtained for Benning Drive murder

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Columbus police have obtained an murder warrant for Reginald Jamal Jackson, believed to be the shooter in the October 29 murder along Benning Road.

Jackson, who is known as "Red," shot Dior Cheney as Cheney drove along Benning Drive near Head Street around 8:30 p.m., police say. Upon arrival, Columbus police officers found Cheney dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

A second victim, Travis Porter, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to the Medical Center where he underwent surgery. The car was shot at about 6 times, the Muscogee County coroner told News 3 after the shooting.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Reginald Jamal Jackson they are asked to contact the Columbus Police Department at 706-653-3232 or 706-653-3400. Authorities consider Jackson to be armed and dangerous.
