RALEIGH, N.C. -
Two men are in custody following an attempted robbery in the Carmike 15 movie theater on Atlantic Springs Road.
The theater manager was opening the cinema when he saw the two suspects inside the building and ran away to call 911.
Two squad cars were nearby and arrived in time to confront the two suspects as they left the side of the building.
Stanley Mark Joyner, 43, was arrested right there, but police said Deshawn Wiggins, 31, ran back into the theatre building. He was later arrested on the roof of the theater.
Both were charged with felony breaking and entering.
"We had a tactical team respond," said Major Stacey Deans of the Raleigh Police. "They conducted a search—located the individual on the roof of the building. He's been taken into custody without incident and we have two suspects in custody right now."
Authorities say no employees or patrons were in the building, and no one was injured.
The theater was not open for business at the time, so there were no customers inside. Because the theater is so big, police responded with a huge presence to surround the facility. Police searched the building intensely before finding the second suspect on the roof.
