2 dead following near head-on collision on I-440

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Two people are dead following an apparent near, head-on collision on I-440 early Sunday morning.

Raleigh Police say two vehicles crashed into each other shortly before 4 a.m. after one of the vehicles appeared to have been traveling the wrong way on I-440 between Six Forks and Wake Forest roads.

Police say Elizabeth Camille Bullock, 20, was declared dead at the scene and David Viva Xicotencatl, 25, died after being transported to WakeMed.

Both victims were the drivers of the vehicles and no other people were in the vehicles at the time of the collision.

Police say Bullock was traveling east in the eastbound lanes of I-440, while Xicotencatl was traveling west in the eastbound lanes.
