SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -

Five people were shot early Sunday morning outside a Southern Pines pool hall.

Police responded to Leather Pockets Billiards on Turner Street around 1:40 a.m. Sunday after a patrolling officer heard gunshots in the area.

Officers located five gunshot victims in the parking lot.

The names and conditions of the victims were not immediately released.

The manager of the bar told WNCN that a radio station was spinning music for those inside, when the shooting happened outside. He said everyone coming in was being wanded by security, so he did not believe the shooter or shooters ever made it inside.

This is the second shooting at the bar in recent years the manager said, although it occurred under different ownership. There has been a bar at this location for approximately 30 years.

Police are actively investigating the shootings and ask anyone with information to contact the Southern Pines Police Department's Investigation Division at (910) 693-1481 or the Crime Tip Line at (910) 693-4110.
