Woman killed in I-275 accident

Posted: Updated:
PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A 54-year-old woman was killed in an accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 near State Route 56 on Monday morning, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Investigators say the woman was driving a Chevy Blazer south on I-275 at high rate of speed. They say she lost control of the vehicle and crossed into another lane hitting a car driven by 59-year-old James Snyder of Zephyrhills. Troopers say both vehicles overturned.

Investigators say the woman driving the Blazer died at the scene. They say Snyder suffered minor injuries.

Officials have not released the name of the woman who was killed as they are still attempting to notify family members.

Officials closed southbound I-275 for a few hours near the SR 56 and Interstate 75 split according to Florida Highway Patrol website and Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

PCSO assisted FHP in redirecting traffic back to I-75 southbound for detours. Officials said northbound traffic on the interstate was not affected.

They continue to investigate. Stay with
