PLANT CITY, FL (WFLA) -

Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a home invasion robbery in Plant City which left two people in the hospital. Deputies said this wasn't a random act.

The shooting happened Monday night around 9 p.m. in the 5700 block of Horton Road. Deputies said, two intruders showed up at the home of Vincent Shakes, 24, and Michelle Hargrove, 22, on Colson Road.

According to HCSO, the intruders fired a few rounds from a gun, tied up Hargrove and forced Shakes into a car. They drove to Shakes' parents home on Horton Road. The intruders knew where the parents lived, deputies said.

When the shooters arrived to the parents' house, they tried to force their way in. Leaford Shakes, 49, tried to hold the door closed. One of the intruders fired a few rounds through the opening in the door, hitting Leaford Shakes in the upper body, according to HCSO.

Vincent Shakes, was shot in the foot. Both men with injuries were taken to Tampa General Hospital.

Deputies continue to investigate.
