SCOTT COUNTY, VA (WJHL) -

Gate City woman says she made up the story that she was attacked last week at her Reed Hollow Road.  Now, she may find herself on the other side of the law.

Karen Elliot told investigators she made up the allegations to try to help her son cover up his crimes. Her son, Cody Hensley, is a suspect in an attack and burglary that happened on two different occasions on Reed Hollow Road.

On October 10, a man was transported to the Holston Valley Hospital after a neighbor found the 60-year-old man with a severe head wound. The victim told police someone hit him, then entered his home and stole his wallet and watch.  About $70 was taken from his wallet.

On October 14, deputies responded to a burglary on Reed Hollow Road where someone broke into a woman's home and stole cash.

Karen's son, Cody is a suspect in both of those crimes.

Cody Hensley, 19, and his alleged accomplice, Dakota Dorton, 19, were arrested by Kingsport Police Monday.  Both of them have been charged with malicious wounding, robbery and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, charges are pending against Karen Elliot.
