Eastbound lanes of Columbus Drive at Himes and Lincoln avenues were closed for a few hours Friday due to a fire near La Teresita Supermercado Strip center in Tampa, according to Tampa Fire Rescue officials.

More than 60 firefighters responded to a 3-alarm structure fire about noon. They said it engulfed a scooter business structure near La Teresita Plaza at 3304 W. Columbus Drive. The fire was under brought under control in 30 minutes according to TFR.

Firefighters say a worker using welding equipment on a scooter at Bayside Scooters ignited it's gasoline tank. The fire then intensified and spread to multiple other scooters.

The business next door, Alberto's Barber Styling sustained smoke damage.
