Police dismantle Wake Co. meth lab operation

Posted: Updated:

Chemicals and materials used to manufacture meth were discovered in a trailer in Willow Spring on Saturday.

Wake County Sheriff's deputies removed the items from the home on Watersong Drive after securing a search warrant. Deputies learned of the operation after receiving tips from concerned citizens.

The resident of the single-wide trailer, Kimberly McLeod Maynard, admitted to previously manufacturing methamphetamine at her home.

Among the items seized from the home were a Duke Energy meter, muriatic acid, Coleman fuel, cold packs, butane torch, large amounts of green tubing, containers of white pellets (consistent with ammonium nitrate), a propane tank, hydrogen peroxide, various bottles, battery strippings and drain cleaner.

All of the items were found in a bathroom, in the trash outside of the home and in the woods behind the home.

The toxic chemicals, glasswear and equipment will be destroyed after retaining samples for evidence purposes.

The investigation into the operation is continuing. No one has been charged at this time.
