TPD: possible Plant High shooting witness didn't see incident

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Tampa Police detectives talked to the man seen on the surveillance video who they said may have witnessed the shooting near the Plant High School last week.  Police said the man didn't see the shooting and that he is not a suspect.

According to TPD, a man in a car pulled up next to two teenage girls walking home from the school football game Friday night, talked to them, pointed a gun at them, then shot one of the teenage girls as they ran away.

Police released the surveillance footage Wednesday of a man near the football field who they said might have witnessed the shooting.

According to the update Thursday morning, the man seen on the video came forward. He contacted TPD himself, and detectives interviewed him. They determined he didn't see the crime and couldn't provide any leads. They continue to investigate.
