The Johnson City Area Arts Council invites the public to step back in time to the era of the roarin' 20's, and join us for "UnCork the Fun: Hooch, Flappers, and Art!"
The Great Gatsby themed event will feature acclaimed jazz musician, Rick Simerly and his group. Simerly is an acclaimed trombonist whose performances over his thirty plus year career have gained him an outstanding reputation and landed him gigs with some of the world's greatest musicians.
In addition, trained dancers, Ken and Lee Simmelink will provide demonstrations and instruction of "Gatsby" era dances to get attendees "flappin' on the floor."
Set in the beautifully restored Charles venue, guests will be encouraged to dress in vintage attire to add to the fun and atmosphere. It will be a festive, elegant event like no other! A "Gatsby" buffet and complimentary wine (for ages 21 and over) will be enjoyed, along with a cash bar with signature cocktails.
Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on an array of items in a silent auction as well.
All proceeds of the event and will help support JC Area Arts Council's arts programs like Arts Corps, which provides free art enrichment classes to at-risk youth in the Johnson City and Washington County area.
