Rays catcher Lobaton to donate to children's charity

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jose Lobaton will visit The Children’s Home in Tampa on Tuesday, October 15 to present a $5,000 check from the Rays Baseball Foundation and deliver ice cream from Sweetbay Supermarket to the residents, volunteers and staff.

In Game 3 of the American League Division Series vs. Boston on October 7, Lobaton became the first Rays player to hit a home run in the Rays Touch Tank located over the center field fence at Tropicana Field.

As a result, the Rays pledged a $5,000 donation to the Florida Aquarium (curators of the tank) and $5,000 to Lobaton’s charity of choice. He chose The Children’s Home, on Memorial Highway in Tampa as his charity.
