Plant High teen shot after Friday football game

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A Plant High School sophomore was shot in the leg while walking home with a friend after Friday night's football game against Sickles High School. It happened around 10 o'clock at the intersection of West San Miguel Street and Bendelow Trail South. Two teens were walking east on San Miguel Street when a car pulled up next to them, according to Tampa Police.

The suspect then rolled down his window, made a statement and pointed a gun at the girls. They ran and the suspect fired a shot which struck the one of the girls in the calf. Police say she was taken to Tampa General Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Detectives say they do not have a motive for the shooting and the only description they have of the car is that it was a black four door sedan. Police are working to get a detailed description of the gunman and will release that when it's available.

The family of the victims have asked us not to release the names of the two teens.

*UPDATE* White male, between 20-30, possibly wearing a red shirt. He had a black ski type mask on his head (not covering his face). He was clean shaven and had a chubby face. He was driving a black four door vehicle with dark tinted windows. If anyone has information or may have seen the vehicle last evening, please call 813-231-6130 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
