Big turnout for TPD's police memorial run

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - More than 1600 runners took part in the 19th Annual Tampa Police Memorial 5k/1-mile run-walk today in Tampa. The annual event benefits the Tampa Police Museum, Memorial Scholarship Program, Charity Donations and Tampa Police Memorial Improvements.

Tampa Police Chief, Jane Castor ran with a group of 30 officers running in memory of one of the 31 individual officers who were killed in the line of duty. The group wore memorial armbands imprinted with each fallen officers name and black t-shirts displaying the American flag.

Newschannel 8's Gayle Guyardo emceed the event.
