Goldsboro man charged in multiple robberies

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

Authorities have charged a Goldsboro man in connection with multiple armed robberies in Wayne County.

Samuel Keith Best Jr. was arrested following a tip that was called into the Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers line.

Best is accused of robbing resident at gunpoint at a home on Denmark Street on Sept. 28. Best is accused of taking money and clothing from the home.

Best was also wanted in connection to a robbery at the D&C Mini Mart on East Elm St. on Sept. 29 and then again on Oct. 7.

Authorities received a tip on Oct. 10 about Best's whereabouts. Officers arrested Best at the Village Motor Lodge on Highway 301 South in Wilson.

Best was transported to the Goldsboro Police Department by two investigators for questioning. Best was then taken before a Wayne County magistrate and was given a $922,000.00 secured bond.

Best is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, three counts of Robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and four counts of assault by pointing a gun.

Best has been placed in the Wayne County Jail pending his first appearance scheduled for Oct. 14.
