PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A student from George M. Steinbrenner High School died after an older car rare-ended his vehicle near County Line Road in Pasco County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP troopers said, Frank Victor Vasquez, 17, and Kaylee Elizabeth Baer, 16, both of Lutz, were in a parked Nissan SUV at the dead-end of the Sunlake Drive. Matthew John West, 23, of Wesley Chapel, was driving a 1983 Chevrolet Blazer when he hit the parked Nissan.

Both SUVs flipped on the side; West fled the scene, according to FHP. Paramedics took Vasquez and Baer to a hospital. Vasquez died from his injuries Sunday.

West turned himself in a day later to FHP troopers. Detectives continue to investigate. They said both drivers and the passenger were not wearing seatbelts. Authorities have not pressed charges yet.
