CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) - Pinellas County school bus with four special needs students on board collided with a car Friday morning in Clearwater, police said. The students on the bus were not injured.

According to the CPD report, the bus was going west on Palmetto Street on way to Curlew Creek Elementary School when it hit the driver's side of the Chrysler LeBaron going south on Highland Avenue around 8 a.m.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue assisted police after the accident. Paramedics took the car driver to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

During the investigation police determined that Rogenia Flowers, 52, of Clearwater, the bus driver, was at fault in the accident. A witness told police she had run the red light.

Carolyn L. Brumfield, 57, of Clearwater, who was driving the Chrysler, is at hospital in stable condition with serious injuries.

Another bus took the students to the school. Charges against Flowers are pending, police said.
