Tampa man accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend appears in court

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Jamar Silas had a first appearance Friday morning after Tampa police say he murdered his pregnant girlfriend.

Police say Silas shot 22-year-old Brianna Anderson in the head. She was in her third trimester of her pregnancy. Doctors were able to save the baby.

Silas was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Silas had a previous charge of marijuana possession and a charge driving with a suspended license.

The judge issued a $25,000 bond for the firearm charge and $5,000 bond for the marijuana charge. Bond was revoked for the suspended license.

The state attorneys office says more charges will be coming soon.
