Charter to add Cuban destination from TIA

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Representatives with ABC Charters announced Wednesday, they will add one more destination to its Cuban routes from the Tampa International Airport.

The addition of Santa Clara will make TIA the only national airport besides Miami to have a direct flight to three Cuban cities, ABC representatives said.

ABC already serves Holguin and Havana with American Airlines. It will add one more weekly Havana flight starting November. This new flight and the Santa Clara service will be via Jet Blue, according to ABC Charters.

Santa Clara is centrally located and has historical significance as the final resting place of the remains of the revolutionary figure Ernesto 'Che' Guevara; it is known for other historic parks. It is located close to beautiful beaches of the coastal communities.

"Adding this third location speaks to the Tampa Bay area’s demand for more flights to Cuba," said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano. "The Tampa Bay region has the third largest Cuban-American population in the United States, with historic ties to the island nation dating back to the days before Jose Marti."

You can book a flight to Cuba on ABC Charters' website.
