Tampa firefighters rescue three cats and a snake in house fire

Tampa firefighters rescued three cats and a seven-foot boa constrictor from a home that was on fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters say they arrived at the house on East 23rd Ave. and found heavy smoke coming from both floors of the two-story home.

Officials say when they entered the house they discovered that no one was home, however they found three cats and the snake trapped in a bedroom above the fire. The cats, named Luna, Bonnie and Leo were given oxygen by firefighters and are expected to make a complete recovery.

Firefighters say the cats and Melsuine, the boa constrictor were turned over to their owner, 31-year-old Tania Jimenez.

Investigators say the fire caused significant damage to the home and the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Tampa Fire Marshal's Office.

There were no injuries reported in the fire.
