A man already in the custody of Fayetteville police was charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting death on Aug. 30.

Kelly Eugene Elliot, 31, was arrested Sept. 26 by members of the U.S. Marshal's Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force in Conroe, Texas.

Fayetteville police said Elliott was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with murder of Derrick Morrisey on Aug. 30.

Morrisey, 37, of Raeford, who was walking a woman to her car outside the Chief's 25 Plus nightclub, was hit and killed by a stray bullet, according to police.

Elliott remains in the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is also charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree kidnapping in connection with the shooting death of Errol Williams on Sept. 1.

A total of five men are named in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Williams. Police said Williams was kidnapped from the parking lot of a convenience store at Bragg Boulevard and Shaw Road around 4:45 a.m.

Police said the suspects forced Williams to drive about a mile away where they shot and killed him.

Police believe Elliott was the triggerman in Williams' death and the man seen in surveillance video at the crime scene.
