Probation officer arrested in Polk

POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

State of Florida probation officer was arrested Monday and booked into the Polk County jail for letting a convicted felon hold his weapon, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office report.

Jorge Martir, 38, had a personal relationship with his female probationer, according to PCSO. Deputies said, he sent her over 700 text messages and an email with a naked picture of himself. He also let her handle his gun, knowing she was a convicted felon, according to PCSO.

Martir was charged with one count Principle in the First Degree for Possession of Weapon by Convicted Felon. He posted $5000 bond and was released.
