Elderly man killed in Hillsborough hit & run accident

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies have identified the man who was killed in a hit & run accident on Sydney Dover Road on Monday afternoon as 80-year-old, Santiago Sanchez-Lopez.

Deputies are looking for the motorist who hit the elderly man. Deputies say the man was hit at Sydney Dover Road and Downing St. at about 2:30 p.m.

Detectives say the driver of the truck who hit Sanches-Lopez is described as white man, 25-28 years of age; they say he has light brown or blonde shoulder-length hair and a mustache. They say he was last seen wearing gold or yellow reflective glasses.

Detectives describe the truck as '82-'85 brown, Ford Ranger with tint. Deputies believe the truck will have damage to the front and right of vehicle.

Deputies are asking for anyone with information on this accident to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
