CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

Law enforcement said two deadly hit-and-runs happened in the past two days in Chapel Hill.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said a Pittsboro police officer found Ivin Levander Scurlock, 41, of Carrboro, and Alexandria Nicole Simou, 40, of Chapel Hill, in the middle of the road on U.S. 15-501 just outside Chapel Hill city limits at approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The bicyclists were hit from behind, according to the highway patrol. Scurlock was pronounced dead at the scene. Simou was transported to UNC Hospital and is in the intensive care unit.

At this time, there are no witnesses. The suspect vehicle is described as having front-end and windshield damage. The make and model of the vehicle is unknown.

This is the second vehicle-on-pedestrian accident in two days in Chapel Hill.

Lisa Renee Baldwin, 41, was hit by a vehicle Wednesday around 8:24 p.m. near the intersection of Fordham Blvd. and S. Estes Drive.

Any information and/or tips from the public regarding this latest incident should be reported to the Hillsborough Highway Patrol at (336) 732-2551 or the Raleigh Highway Patrol Communication Center at (919) 733-3861.
