14-year-old NC boy accused of stabbing brother

Posted: Updated:

Authorities in Hoke County accuse a 14-year-old boy of stabbing his 17-year-old brother after an argument over a computer.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the youth's identity is being withheld because of his age. Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said the teenager is being housed at a juvenile detention facility until petitions are taken out against him.

Peterkin said the brothers argued and the older brother walked into a room to tell his grandmother what was happening. The sheriff said as he was talking, the 14-year-old walked up behind his brother and stabbed him once in the buttocks with a steak knife.

The stabbing occurred Thursday after school. The 17-year-old later was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville with injuries that were not life-threatening.
