Now this rescue dog needs a rescue

Posted: Updated:
GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

A Goldsboro pit bull that has served as a rescue dog now needs a rescue itself.

Half a dozen years ago, Sambuca was 4-month old puppy being kept in chains at a fight ring. But Rebecca Laporta and her husband rescued Sambuca one night, raised the pup and taught it to be a rescue dog.

On a recent rescue, Sambuca was attacked, apparently by a wild animal, and beaten up pretty bad. So Sambuca no longer does rescues, and now needs a new home. The family that adopted her is divorcing and, given current work schedules, looking for a place for Sambuca to live.

Sambuca is great with children and other dogs.

If you want to know more about Sambuca, contact Cindy Lynch at the Wake County animal shelter at 919-368-5422.
