RALEIGH, N.C. -

Three U.S. attorneys are joining several advocacy groups in hosting a 2-day forum on human trafficking.

The Human Trafficking Symposium begins Thursday in Raleigh. A statement from the U.S. Department of Justice said the training is designed to bring together law enforcement and service providers to educate them about the crime, which has been described as modern day slavery in the U.S.

Among the groups sponsoring the symposium are Office for Victims of Crime, the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Carolinas Institute for Community Policing.
