FORT BRAGG, N.C. -

Fort Bragg will hold a remembrance ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11 to honor those who died or were injured in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The event is expected to begin at 9 a.m. at the main flag pole on Post.

"This event is important because it is meant to honor all those who have served, especially those who have fallen during both the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and since then in the Global War on Terrorism," said Sgt. Maj. Scot A. Givens, XVIII Airborne Corps operations noncommissioned officer and event coordinator. "Their ultimate sacrifices will not be forgotten."

The guest speaker will be Dave Roever, a Purple Heart recipient who survived severe burn injuries from a grenade explosion while serving as a U.S. Navy river boat gunner in Vietnam.

The ceremony will include a performance by the 82nd Airborne Division Band, a wreath laying, a 21 gun salute and Taps.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place at the Funk Physical Fitness Center off Gruber Road.
