Posted: Updated:
BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) -

It's enough to make a classic car lover's stomach turn.  Police want to find the people who tried to steal a classic car and heavily damaged it in the process.

On August 19th, the owner of a 1965 Mustang when to check on his car stored in a warehouse at the corner of Fifth Street and East Cedar Avenue in Bristol, Tennessee.

According to police, the man heard noises and realized his car had been vandalized and was in the process of being stolen.

"He started looking around and realized his Mustang has been moved to a part of the building," said Investigator Brian Hess.  "The car was getting ready to be pushed out .  He pretty much caught them in the act."

In their haste, the burglars left plenty of fingerprints.  Detectives are processing the evidence and hoping for a phone call from a tipster.

"Usually in a case like this, someone has told somebody something," said Investigator Hess.  "You know how information travels, so it would get us pointed in the right direction and help us out a lot."

If you know who is responsible for this crime, help Bristol Police arrest "Monday's Most Wanted."

According to the Federal Trade Commission, "Scammers use cameras, keypad overlays, and skimming devices - like a realistic-looking card reader placed over the factory-installed card reader on an ATM or gas pump - to capture the information from your card's magnetic strip without your knowledge and get your PIN."
